Fire Safety and Civil Protection College

The Fire Safety and Civil Protection College was established on 1 April 2002 on the basis of the Fire Safety Technical School of the Ministry of Interior.
The aim of the College is to prepare specialists for the State Fire and Rescue Service and other fire safety, rescue and civil protection services and units, institutions and commercial companies as well.
The College implements first level high school professional study programme "Fire Safety and Fire-Fighting" with qualification technician of fire safety and civil protection.
The College offers following licensed courses:
  • Person in charge of fire safety in industrial facilities;
  • Projection, installation and exploitation of automatic fire fighting systems.
Within the College operate the Fire Fighters Technical School which implements further education programme "Fire safety and fire fighting" with qualifications:
  • fire fighter,
  • fire fighter - rescuer.
Citizens of Latvia with secondary education in age of 18 - 40 will be matriculated for the full time studies in the first level higher education in study programme "Fire-safety and fire fighting". Applicant individual qualities, physical background, health conditions should meet the standards described in the Fire Safety and Fire fighting Law and which has applicable for the service in the State Fire and Rescue Service. In beginning of studies students should take an oath and with this has employed for the service in the State Fire and Rescue Service. During studies students adapts knowledge's about field, profession and general education courses.

The Fire Fighting Research Laboratory of the Applied Researches Division of the Fire-Safety and Civil Protection College was established in 1962.
Laboratory is member of the European Group of Organisations for Fire Testing (EGOLF), Inspection and Certification since 2002 and the Latvian Association of Testing Laboratories (LATLAB) since 1998.
Laboratory has accredited in the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau. Decision on accreditation was taken in January 17, 2006.

Accreditation field on the non-envisaged level: liquid and solid substances and building products fire risk indicators, fireproof protection agents, mechanical testing of fire fighting substances and fire fighting technique.
